Las Flores

Have you ever thought of flowers as something that has a profound symbolic meaning nobody cares so much about anymore? Various ancient folk traditions assign diverse meanings to plants.

Although these are no longer understood by populations that are divorced from their ancient rural traditions, some survive and are alluded to in older pictures, songs and writings.

According to the apparent legend, the tomb of Virgin Mary was filled with lilies after her assumption to heaven. There are theories that explain the white petals to represent her spotless body and the golden stamens, her growing soul.

According to Hinduism, within each human in the world there is the spirit of the sacred Lotus. Ir represents eternity, purity and divinity and is widely used as a symbol of life, fertility and feminine beauty.

In Taoism and other Chinese folk religions flowers not only represent beauty, but also are symbols of life, happiness, prosperity and fertility.

For Buddhist the Lotus flower represents the most exalted state of a men, enlightenment, the  Buddha itself.

Native American Indians had the whole flower mythology where every plant had it’s own meaning, sign and legend.

Almost everything is connected to flowers 🙂

And everybody has heard the famous hippie song, that says, that you’re going to San-Fransisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair…

I devote this collection to all the flower lovers ! Let’s blossom!
